On March 20, 2024, Hui o Ho`ohonua held a recognition ceremony at Waipahu Intermediate School, in the Māla `Ai, celebrating a Right of Entry from the City and County of Honolulu, and recognized by the US Navy, that was grants HOH the ability to push the boundary of this project and expanding our impact opportunity directly to the shoreline of Pu`uloa, in addition to the 7 acre māla.
This project lead by Ken Kozuma and the Waipahu Intermediate Future Farmers of America Student Cohort,with the support from Safe Haven Waipahu, Weed and Seed Hawaii, and Hui o Ho`ohonua and guidance provided by Kūpuna Herculese Huihui and a developing kūpuna council. This agreement not only benefits the goals envisioned by this resilient community but paves a pathway for future nonprofit/government partnerships.
