  • The Honouliuli Restoration Project has drawn over 15,000 community volunteers, almost $2.5 million in funding, and is set to expand to 27 acres of restored waters and recovered Hawaiian food systems in the next two years.  Click here for details.
  • The Hui Alaloa Project - creating new pathways for abundance in the `Ewa moku, this demonstration project seeks to create a community network focused on creating a nurturing greenspace along the Pearl Harbor Historic Trail in Pearl City.  Click here to learn more.
  • The Kapapapuhi Point Park Adopt-a-Plot Program - gathering the community in monthly work days and working with the Honolulu City and County Department of Parks and Recreation, this program has helped clear the shoreline of rubbish and invasive mangrove.  Our community volunteers have adopted areas of the shoreline to maintain this progress demonstrating the effectiveness of community stewardship.  Click here to learn more about our Adopt-a-Plot Program.
Our free education programs serve 28 schools, K-college, throughout `Ewa 
  • Discovery and Stewardship in the Honouliuli Watershed (2021-2023) - supported by a grant from the NOAA-BWET program, this program supports teachers from Waipahu, J. Campbell and Kapolei High Schools to understand the waters in their "backyard" and develop as leaders to restore them.  The resources co-created with students and teachers at Kapolei, Waipahu and J.Campbell High School are available on our Education Page
  • Project Hōkūlani (2021-2023) - We are proud to partner with the UHM College of Educationʻs Project Hōkūlani as internship mentors and an `āina- based learning site host.  Meet our 2023 interns! Meet our 2022 interns!
  • The `Ewa `Āina Education Initiative (2019-2022) designed to amplify `āina-based education is supported by Kamehameha Schools `Ewa-Waianae Region and implemented in partnership with the Mālama Learning Center.  Serving 15 schools, 30 teachers and hundreds of students, this program is in its second year.  Click here to learn more​​
  • Mālama Waiawa (2019-2020) - a pilot project supported by the Greening STEM grant program, this project helped re-activate the Pearl City High School Natural Resource Program, connecting students with the forested areas of "their" watershed and supporting them as they developed related leadership projects.  Click here to learn more
  • The Pu`uloa Strategic Partnership - formed by Hui o Ho`ohonua in August of 2019, is a group of stakeholders, currently involved in natural area and cultural resource management, as well as community engagement, along the Pearl Harbor shoreline.  Participants, many of whom are engaged in an informal, advisory capacity are working hard to develop new pathways for collaboration.  Click here to learn more about the partnership.​
  • The `Ewa `Āina Network - supported by Kamehameha Schools and KUA, is a group of `āina stewards working to develop their capacity and collaboration.  Hui o Ho`ohonua is honored to be a part of this network and to be developing pilina with several of the members through hana, generously shared mana`o and collaborative grant pursuits.  We believe the work that goes into the development of this partnership is vital to our Mālama Pu`uloa Program.  Click here to learn more.
  • Hui Mālama Loko I`a - supported by KUA, is a growing network of fishpond practitioners and organizations from across ka paeʻāina o Hawaiʻi (the Hawaiian archipelago). The Hui was formed as an opportunity for practitioners to empower each other and leverage their skills, knowledge and resources related to restoration and management of loko iʻa (traditional Hawaiian fishponds).  As Hui o Ho`ohonua has begun to recover loko i`a at via our Honouliuli Project, we are honored to be new members of this hui and see our participation as vital pathway towards Hawaiian stewardship of these resources - a sophisticated system of food production vital to the communities of `Ewa.  Click here to learn more.
